Sorry to Bother You is the new dark comedy film from rapper Boots Riley in his screenwriting and directorial debut and stars Lakeith Stanfield, Tessa Thompson, Jermaine Fowler, Steven Yeun, Omari Hardwick, Terry Crews, Danny Glover, Arnie Hammer, as well as featuring the voices of David Cross and Patton Oswalt. Like Leave No Trace, this was another film that's really intrigued me, particularly for its original premise, satirical humor and visual style. But after viewing it, I have one thing to say about this movie: what the hell did I just watched?! Once again, I want to thank Luis for joining me in witnessing this funny and crazy experience and for providing his own thoughts on it too.
So yea... it's best to see it to believe it, especially the last half of the movie! Sorry to Bother You is truly one of the best films I've seen this year for its original story, Boots Riley daring and witty direction, clever satire of relevant themes, performances of the cast (particularly Lakeith Stanfield, Tessa Thompson and Arnie Hammer) and its visual style. I actually look forward to seeing what other ideas Boots has in store in his filmmaking career, and who knows, it'll probably top this film too!
